Salma Hayek has never been afraid to embrace getting older. While many celebrities chase the idea of looking younger, the Oscar-nominated actress has consistently spoken about aging with gratitude, confidence and a belief that beauty evolves with every stage of life.

As she celebrates her 60th birthday, Hayek continues to champion that perspective. Over the years, she’s rejected the notion that growing older means stepping away from the spotlight, instead embracing milestones that many once considered out of reach.

In 2025, Hayek became one of the cover stars of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, calling the opportunity something she never imagined would happen.

“I remember when I was young, a long, long time ago, I was always excited to see the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue,” she said at the time. “If somebody had told me I was gonna be in it at 58, I would have sent them to the madhouse, but the world has changed, and that’s exciting.”

She’s also been candid about her approach to beauty, previously telling PEOPLE that she isn’t trying to recapture her twenties.

“I just want my husband to still go, ‘Wow’ when he looks at me,” she said of husband, François-Henri Pinault. “I still want to feel good about the way I look, but not necessarily because I want to look 20.”

Instead, Hayek has embraced what she calls “a different kind of beauty,” even revealing in past interviews that meditation—not cosmetic procedures—is one of the biggest contributors to her youthful appearance.

That confidence has become a defining part of how she marks life’s biggest milestones.

Birthday celebrations have long been a tradition for Hayek on social media. Last year, she rang in her 59th birthday aboard a yacht, sharing photos of herself in a striking red bikini while holding what appeared to be a cocktail.

“59 trips around the sun and still dancing,” she captioned the post.

This year, however, the actress chose an even more liberating way to celebrate entering a new decade. On Sept. 2, Hayek returned to Instagram with a series of sun-soaked photos taken in the ocean, pairing them with a simple message of gratitude.

“60 and grateful,” she wrote.

Fans quickly filled the comments with messages celebrating both the milestone and her confidence.

“60 yet ageless… Father Time must be smitten with you,” one follower commented.

Another wrote, “60 years of sweetness, talent, grace, and a beauty that shines from the inside out.”

While Hayek is no stranger to sharing beachside moments with fans, the latest photos marked a noticeable departure from her usual birthday tradition.

![]("//image-2.apost.com/media/articletranslation/2026/09/14/10/7d332d279c604b15240b04f12b1ac20f_500x1.jpg")
