Lindsay Wagner turned 77 this summer, and the woman who once ran at bionic speed still turns heads. Fifty years after The Bionic Woman first hit screens, the actress who played Jaime Sommers remains active, graceful, and deeply connected to the fans who never forgot her.

Born June 22, 1949, in Los Angeles, Wagner became a household name in the mid-1970s. She first appeared as tennis pro Jaime Sommers on The Six Million Dollar Man. After a skydiving accident left the character critically injured, doctors rebuilt her with bionic limbs. The character proved so popular that she earned her own series in 1976. Wagner won the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series the following year — the first for a science-fiction role.

Four Marriages and a Lasting Family

Wagner’s personal life moved at a different pace. She married four times. First came music publisher Allan Rider in 1971; they divorced two years later. In 1976 she wed actor Michael Brandon. That marriage ended in 1979. In 1981 she married stuntman Henry Kingi, whom she met while filming The Bionic Woman. The couple had two sons, Dorian (born 1982) and Alex (born 1986), before divorcing in 1984. Her final marriage, to producer Lawrence Mortorff, lasted from 1990 to 1993. She has not remarried.

Both sons followed their parents into the industry. Dorian works as a stunt performer and creature actor with credits that include Stranger Things, Venom, and The Book of Boba Fett. Alex has performed stunts on major films such as Tenet, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Blade Runner 2049. Wagner has spoken proudly of raising them while balancing a demanding career.

Still Showing Up for Fans

In 2026, Wagner marked the 50th anniversary of The Bionic Woman with public appearances and a heartfelt video message. She reunited with co-star Lee Majors at Central Carolina Comic Con earlier in the year. Fans continue to meet her at conventions, sharing stories of how Jaime Sommers inspired them. Wagner has said the character was intentionally written to show that strength and sensitivity can exist together — a balance she and creator Kenneth Johnson deliberately pursued.

She has kept working in quieter ways. She appeared on Grey’s Anatomy in 2018 and 2019. In 2025 she returned as Amelie in the video game Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Additional projects remain listed in various stages of production.

What We Know

Wagner won her Emmy in 1977 for The Bionic Woman.

She has two adult sons who work in stunts and acting.

She has been divorced four times and is currently unmarried.

2026 marks 50 years since the series premiered; she has actively celebrated with fans and co-stars.

She continues selective acting and public appearances while focusing on holistic health and personal advocacy.

Why This Matters

For millions of Americans who grew up in the 1970s, Jaime Sommers was one of the first strong, capable female heroes on television who never abandoned her humanity. Seeing the woman who played her still present, still elegant, and still engaging with the people who loved that character offers something rare in celebrity culture: continuity without the usual reinvention or spectacle. In an era of constant image overhaul, Wagner’s quiet longevity feels almost radical.

At 77, the Bionic Woman is still moving forward — on her own terms.
