She was born Stefania Zofya Paul on November 2, 1942, in Los Angeles, California. She grew up around the world of movie studios and attended Hollywood High School. Before becoming known as Stefanie Powers, she was sometimes credited under the name Taffy Paul.

Her career began in the late 1950s, and she quickly became a familiar face in Hollywood, appearing in films such as “The Interns.”

In the mid-1960s, she landed the leading role in the television series “The Girl from U.N.C.L.E.,” playing a female spy at a time when women rarely received such action-packed roles.

Many families also remember her from Disney’s “Herbie Rides Again,” where she shared the screen with the famous Volkswagen that captured the hearts of children and parents alike.

But 1979 would change everything for her career.

ABC cast her in the legendary series “Hart to Hart,” where she played Jennifer Hart alongside Robert Wagner, who portrayed her husband, Jonathan Hart.

They played a wealthy, elegant, and adventurous couple who traveled around the world solving mysteries and crimes, becoming one of the most beloved couples in American television history.

The series ran for five seasons, ending in 1984. For her performance, Stefanie received two Primetime Emmy nominations and five Golden Globe nominations.

The chemistry between the two actors was so special that Jennifer and Jonathan Hart remain in the memories of millions of viewers to this day.

But away from the cameras, Stefanie Powers’ heart belonged to another Hollywood legend.

From 1972 until his death in 1981, she shared her life with renowned actor William Holden.

Losing him was one of the most painful moments of her life and forever changed the path she would follow.

Rather than stepping away from public life, Stefanie decided to honor his memory in a very special way.

She founded the William Holden Wildlife Foundation, an organization named after the actor and dedicated to protecting endangered animals and their natural habitats.

This was a passion William Holden had shared with her throughout their life together.

For more than four decades, Stefanie has continued this mission, turning the pain of loss into an extraordinary commitment to nature and wildlife.

But fans never forgot the television couple Jennifer and Jonathan Hart.

Stefanie never forgot that chapter of her life either. She and Robert Wagner reunited for eight “Hart to Hart” television movies produced between 1993 and 1996.

Their friendship continued long after the cameras stopped rolling.

Speaking about Robert Wagner, she once said:

“He’s like my brother. He’s a tremendous part of my life, and I love him dearly.”

More recently, the two reunited to celebrate his birthday.

Although the years have passed, Stefanie has never completely stepped away from Hollywood.

She recently appeared at the Newport Beach Film Festival in California, where she posed alongside actress Joanna Cassidy at the premiere of “Sock It To Me.”

Additionally, in December, she is expected to receive the Ms. Wonderful 2026 honor from The Thalians organization.

Today, on her 84th birthday, Stefanie Powers remains much more than the elegant actress millions watched on television.

She is a woman who experienced love, loss, and heartbreak, yet found the strength to turn the memory of the man she loved into a mission that continues to this day.

Happy 84th Birthday, Stefanie Powers! ❤️

For an entire generation of Americans, she will always be Jennifer Hart, the woman who made solving mysteries look like the most glamorous adventure in the world.
